Job summary

Vivid Resourcing is seeking a Transport Planner to join the Development Planning team in Leeds. You will prepare Transport Assessments, Statements and Travel Plans for planning applications, and support projects across Yorkshire, the North of England, and the wider UK.

The role requires 2–7 years of transport planning experience, familiarity with Junctions/TRICS/TEMPro, and strong analytical/report writing skills. Hybrid working and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Transport Planning or related field.
  • 2–7 years of transport planning experience.
  • Experience preparing TA/TS/Travel Plans.
  • Understanding UK planning system and guidance.
  • Experience with Junctions, TRICS, TEMPro.

Transport Planner (Development Planning)

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and capable Transport Planner to join our Development Planning team in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, healthcare, and employment developments, supporting clients through all stages of the planning process.

Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will prepare transport planning assessments, provide technical advice, and help deliver successful planning outcomes for a wide range of projects across Yorkshire, the North of England, and the wider UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans for planning applications.
  • Undertake transport analysis and junction capacity assessments using industry-standard software.
  • Analyse traffic, travel behaviour, and accessibility data to support development proposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of development planning strategies and technical reports.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • A degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Planning, or a related discipline.
  • Approximately 2–7 years' experience in transport planning, preferably within a development planning consultancy.
  • Experience preparing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, and Travel Plans.
  • A good understanding of the UK planning system and relevant transport planning guidance.
  • Experience using industry-standard transport planning software such as Junctions (PICADY, ARCADY, and LinSig), TRICS, and TEMPro.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise technical reports.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • A proactive, client-focused approach and a willingness to take ownership of project tasks.
  • Experience using GIS software.
  • Knowledge of sustainable transport, active travel, and accessibility planning.
  • Experience contributing to planning appeals or public consultation exercises.
  • Knowledge of transport planning policy and development management across Yorkshire and the North of England.
  • Working towards or holding membership of a relevant professional institution, such as CIHT or TPS.
