Transport Planner – UK Operations

We’re looking for a skilled Transport Planner to join a busy and fast-paced transport office, coordinating the daily delivery and collection of full loads, groupage, and container movements across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and route deliveries and collections for full loads, groupage, and container traffic
  • Ensure compliance with road transport legislation and the Working Time Directive (WTD)
  • Communicate effectively with drivers and customers to maintain high service standards
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time
  • Manage driver hours, trailer rotation, and fleet utilisation
  • Oversee container movements, including VBS bookings and port collections
  • Use a Transport Management System (TMS) and associated tools to manage operations
  • Support the wider operations team to drive efficiency and service excellence
About You – Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in transport planning or a back‑office transport role
  • Strong geographical knowledge of the UK
  • Experience planning container or groupage loads
  • Familiarity with VBS booking systems and Container Exec (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
  • Good IT skills, including TMS software
  • Team‑oriented with a proactive, problem‑solving mindset
Desirable:
  • CPC qualification (advantageous but not essential)
Working Hours & Additional Info:
  • Rotational shifts between 06:00 and 18:00
  • Weekend work: 1 in 4 Saturday/Sunday mornings (additional payment provided)
  • Supportive team environment with opportunities for progression
