Job summary

A leading logistics company based in Sittingbourne is seeking a Transport Operator to manage driver and vehicle utilisation, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess a CPC qualification and experience in transport or distribution. Working hours are Wednesday to Saturday, 7 PM to 7 AM, offering a salary of £32,445 with additional benefits including a pension scheme and annual leave.

Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our friendly team in Teynham on a full time permanent basis.

Responsibilities
  • Plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies ensuring that all company sites are fully considered when doing so.
  • Ensure that all drivers are working within a safe environment and follow driver hours regulations.
  • Liaise with the retail department to optimise fleet/driver utilisation, identifying and resolving problems affecting delivery on time.
  • Assist in the control of equipment, ensuring that customer requirements are met and recorded.
  • Conduct investigations into accidents or issues of driver performance.
  • Work with compliance to ensure trucks are legal and information is downloaded in a timely manner.
  • Support drivers with callouts and breakdowns.
  • Inform customers of late or delayed deliveries using the relevant contact method (automated electronic, email and telephone).
  • Build and match ASN’s to loads ensuring compliance.
  • Complete accident, incident and near miss paperwork.
  • Track drivers using ISOTRAK / Microlise systems.
Qualifications
  • CPC National/ International qualification desirable.
  • Experience of working within a distribution / transport environment.
  • Experience of managing own workload within a pressurised environment.
  • A sound understanding of vehicle planning within a transport environment or similar.
  • Sound geographical knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of driver’s hours regulations/Tachograph law.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.
Working Hours and Salary

Working Hours: Wednesday-Saturday, 7pm-7am.

Salary: 32,445 per annum.
