Davies Turner has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join the Atherstone site.

Location: Atherstone, CV9 1PD

Salary: £31,200 per annum

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 45 Hours per week – Monday to Friday

Transport Operator - The Role

We are looking for a Transport Operator to provide administration support for the Transport and Warehouse Department, organising delivery and collection schedules and co-ordinating the operation of the fleet vehicles, complying with all necessary controls and procedures, whilst offering a high standard of customer care.

This position is based at Atherstone which is easily commutable from Tamworth, Sutton Coldfield, Solihull, Nuneaton, Coventry and Birmingham. Our offices are opposite Coleshill Parkway Railway Station which offers a direct link to Birmingham Grand Central and Nuneaton.

Transport Operator - The Responsibilities
  • To arrange deliveries and collections with the Company fleet and sub-contracted hauliers to meet agreed deadlines as efficiently and economically as possible, ensuring weight and cube of freight are accurately evaluated
  • To provide administrative support to warehouse and transport staff, maintaining a high standard of accuracy throughout, taking care to check the quantity and the condition of any goods signed for and follow through and promptly and effectively resolve any issues relating to missing, damaged or lost freight
  • To accurately and efficiently administer storage and distribution accounts, liaising with customers regarding the movement and storage of cargo, monitoring charges and raising invoices
  • To monitor all invoices from hauliers, checking for accuracy, identifying discrepancies and following through with the relevant parties to resolve queries and approve for payment
  • To maintain the department's files, records and stationery in line with departmental and legal requirements
  • To co-ordinate the loading of despatches keeping records of which loads are on which trailer, and ensure the yard and warehouse are kept moving and in the best condition to service our customers
Transport Operator - You
  • A person who can offer a high standard of customer service to both internal and external customers, by demonstrating a professional, helpful and positive manner and providing customers with appropriate, accurate information regarding deliveries and collections
  • To build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues throughout the Company, working closely with other branches and warehouse staff
  • To ensure that all activities operate within Davies Turner policies and procedures and to demonstrate a commitment to these through their own working practices
  • To ensure that all documentation, records and systems are accurate and kept up to date
  • To prepare and present information for the Davies Turner management team as required
  • To comply with the Health and Safety statement and the Q.I. procedures in all areas of responsibility
