Transport Operations Manager
Location: Hull
Full-time | £50,000 Salary + Car Allowance

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Transport Manager to take responsibility for our hull depot transport operations. This is a key leadership role, ensuring our transport activities are safe, compliant, efficient, and customer‑focused, while achieving financial and performance targets.
Key Responsibilities
Operator Licence & Compliance
- Fulfil the statutory duties of the Transport Manager role.
- Maintain robust systems for auditing, monitoring, and reviewing compliance performance.
- Keep up to date with changes in transport legislation and industry standards.
- Report, record, and resolve any compliance issues, prohibitions, or test failures.
Driver Management
- Oversee driver administration including licence checks, CPC validation, working time records, and medical declarations.
- Manage driver performance, compliance with hours and rest regulations, and defect reporting.
- Ensure accurate tachograph data capture, analysis, and record retention.
- Lead on driver training, inductions, and ongoing competency development.
- Support disciplinary, absence management, and performance improvement processes.
Vehicle Management
- Ensure all vehicles and trailers are maintained in a roadworthy condition and serviced on time.
- Manage vehicle maintenance planners, MOT scheduling, and safety inspections.
- Verify insurance, height indicators, payload notifications, and tachograph calibrations are up to date.
- Liaise with maintenance providers and suppliers to ensure high operational standards.
Operational Leadership
- Manage depot transport operations to deliver on‑time, efficient, and cost‑effective service.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Monitor budgets, cost controls, and P&L performance.
- Deliver “best in class” customer service and ensure operational excellence.
- Support continuous improvement, innovation, and business development projects.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.
- Ensure compliance with company SHEQ policies and procedures.
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near misses.
- Provide training, guidance, and leadership to maintain a safe workplace for all staff and drivers.
About You
- Proven experience as a Transport or Logistics Manager.
- CPC National & International qualification.
- In‑depth knowledge of transport legislation, driver hours, and Operator Licence compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- IT literate, with experience using Microsoft Office and transport planning software.
- Full clean driving licence.
Desirable
- Experience in tanker or bulk liquid logistics.
- Health & Safety qualification.
- Experience managing agency drivers and large, diverse teams.
