Transport Manager (Bus & Taxi Services) (Operator's Licence holder - essential)

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of our client's fleet, comprising approximately 90 buses and supporting taxi services. The successful candidate must hold a full Operator's Licence (O-Licecnce) and demonstrate proven experience in managing compliant and efficient fleet operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day fleet operations across bus and taxi services
• Oversee and maintain compliance with operator's licence requirements
• Lead and support a team of drivers, supervisors, and support staff
• Plan, maintain, and optimise driver rotas and scheduling
• Ensure fleet availability, maintenance scheduling, and vehicle safety standards
• Monitor operational performance and service delivery KPIs
• Manage incident reporting, investigations, and resolution
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, maintenance partners, and suppliers
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management of drivers
• Drive service improvements, cost efficiencies, and customer satisfaction
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, DVSA, and transport regulations

Qualifications & Experience

• Operator's Licence holder - essential
• Strong experience managing a transport fleet (buses, taxis or similar)
• Proven leadership experience managing operational teams, particularly drivers
• Knowledge of transport compliance, safety, and regulatory frameworks
• Experience in rota planning, workforce scheduling, and performance management
• Strong organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, operational environment
