The Role

The Transport Manager will oversee the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring efficient fleet utilisation and full legal compliance. You'll lead a dedicated transport team of circa. 100, driving high standards, safety, and delivery performance across the operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily transport operations across a fleet of 40 HGVs and 150 trailers
• Ensure full OCRS and DVSA compliance, maintaining excellent operator standards
• Manage and develop a team of drivers, planners, and supervisors
• Maximise operational efficiency through resource planning and route optimisation
• Monitor KPIs, cost control, and service levels
• Conduct regular audits, driver briefings, and investigations
• Work closely with key customers and internal stakeholders
• Deliver continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Use TMS systems effectively for planning and reporting

Key Experiences

• CPC in Road Transport - essential
• Proven experience as a Transport Manager within a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain environment (Ideally within 3PL or Retail)
• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and compliance
• Hands-on leadership style with excellent people management skills
• Competent user of transport management software (TMS) - ideally Road Runner and Microlise
• Confident, proactive, and commercially aware
