Transport Coordinator – Thame, Oxfordshire

Transport Coordinator required in Thame.

About the role

Part of a friendly team within a logistics support team, you will organise drivers' movements for vehicle collections and deliveries for a modern fleet of 20-strong recovery transporters, ensuring legal compliance and operational excellence.

Our client is a modern vehicle salvage agent based in Thame, Oxfordshire, hiring a Transport Coordinator to join their team.

Key responsibilities
  • Organise driver/vehicle run schedules for vehicle collections and/or deliveries, ensuring optimum cost-effectiveness through full load capacity and suitable geographic locations.
  • Plan run schedules for each driver in consideration of EU driving regulations – breaks, driving limits, rest periods.
  • Incorporate vehicle returns, deliveries and site transfers into run schedules.
  • Manage ‘failed collection’ reports and continuously identify potential operational improvements.
  • Manage drivers' resource levels to meet business needs.
  • Ensure all contractual service obligations are met.
  • Contribute to team inbox and all communication portals.
  • Complete all reasonable tasks requested by colleagues efficiently & effectively.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a transport planning/logistics-oriented role.
  • Sound knowledge of UK road networks/geographical areas.
  • Experience working in a busy fast-moving office environment.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload, work under initiative and as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and a motivated mentality with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Pass a satisfactory DBS, Finance, Right to Work and reference checks.

  • Starting salary £27,000-31,500 per annum, pending experience.
