Job description

Overview

As a Transport Co-ordinator you will ensure the smooth operation of the transport department. You are responsible for accurately recording all information relating to deliveries, tray collections and product returns.

Responsibilities

• Track departures from Four Ashes and Distribution Hubs to GSF shops, record all details in Delrep.
• Achieve 100% completion of delivery details as the daily target.
• Ensure empty cages and returns from stores are collected.
• Communicate any changes impacting delivery on time to GSF.
• Communicate any delivery issues to GSF stores.
• Update issues in our in-house transport management system.
• Ensure all returns on vehicles are tipped on arrival and support the shunter in moving trailers to the out-loading area.
• Update trailer status in the yard and liaise with the shunter to keep the loading bay supplied with the required vehicles.
• Build outgoing delivery loads in DELREP.
• Answer telephones and driver queries.
• Support drivers while they are away from base.
• Operate all necessary software, including the Transport Management System, Tachograph systems and in-house software.
• Track vehicles to maintain customer service.
• Inform the customer of any load problems in a timely fashion and mitigate any risk to KPI performance.
• Report all delivery discrepancies to the Customer while the driver is at the delivery point via email or telephone.
• Issue Delay Ref numbers and Night Out Ref numbers as required.
• Support the Operations Manager with routine vehicle maintenance and keep maintenance records up to date.
• Support the Operations Manager with tachograph records for driver infringements and inform the traffic team of drivers needing briefing on infringements.
• Ensure all driver and vehicle allocations are accurate and populate forward planning sheets accounting for driver holidays.
• Support the Operations Manager in covering all runs using own resources and agency partners.
• Assist in maintaining holiday records as required.
• Provide a full handover to the following shift, ensuring all information is presented via our online handover platform.
• Provide cover on other shifts as and when required and reasonable.
