Job summary

Streamline Search Ltd is seeking a Transport Controller for container haulage based in Stanford-le-Hope. This hands-on role plans and coordinates daily work with drivers and the fleet team to keep operations efficient and cost-effective.

You will monitor driver Hours, plan routes, manage on-site administration, and liaise with drivers throughout the day to resolve issues and improve service quality. On-call weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in container haulage or port transport operations.
• Ability to plan and coordinate vehicles and drivers.
• Strong understanding of UK port operations and vehicle routing.
• Knowledge of drivers hours, transport compliance and cost control.
• Good communication and organizational skills under pressure.

• Escalate any ongoing service, cost or operational issues.

Transport Controller - Container Haulage

Location: Stanford-le-Hope
Salary: £35,000-£45,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday, 08:00-18:00, on site
Weekend: Remote on-call approximately 1 weekend in every 6-8 weeks

We are recruiting for an established container haulage and transport company looking for a Transport Controller to join their operations team.

This is a hands-on transport operations role, working with drivers, planners and the fleet team to keep the daily operation running smoothly. You will be involved in planning and allocating work, monitoring vehicles and drivers, dealing with delays and helping to keep the operation efficient and cost-effective.

What We're Looking For - Port Operator

• Previous experience in container haulage, port transport or UK transport operations.
• Good understanding of container movements and UK port operations.
• Experience planning or coordinating vehicles and drivers.
• Knowledge of VBS bookings and port procedures.
• Understanding of drivers' hours and transport compliance.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• Able to work well under pressure and manage a busy workload.

Previous experience supervising a transport team would be an advantage, but is not essential.
