Job description

An established and growing business in the specialist equipment and plant sector is looking for a highly organised Transport and Dispatch Supervisor to join its busy operations team. This hands‑on role will involve preparing machinery for dispatch, loading/unloading equipment, coordinating returns, and supporting transport planning across the South of the UK. You will work closely with drivers and internal teams to ensure machinery gets to and from customer sites safely, efficiently, and on time. In addition to operational tasks, you will occasionally step into a leadership role, deputising for the Transport Manager to plan routes, liaise with customers, and manage day‑to‑day logistics.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Selecting, preparing, and dispatching plant machinery
  • Managing incoming returns and equipment checks
  • Coordinating driver schedules and vehicle loads
  • Using logistics and hire software to track stock and movements
  • Supporting transport compliance and safety protocols
  • Communicating with customers, drivers, and internal teams
What You'll Need:
  • Experience in transport operations or route planning
  • Comfortable using logistics or hire software
  • Strong attention to detail and good problem‑solving skills
  • UK driving licence essential; FLT licence a bonus
  • Willingness to take initiative and step into supervisory duties when needed
What's on Offer:
  • £35,000 - £40,000 salary, dependant on experience
  • Monday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:30
