Overview

Are you passionate about supporting staff through education and supporting the development of our non‑medical workforce? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Award Winning Professional Development & Education Unit (PDEU) at The Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust, as a Transition Support Mentor (TSM). This exciting permanent opportunity will allow the successful candidates to fulfill their career aspirations within education. The ideal candidate must show evidence of high standards of practice and an understanding of the education and assessment of competence within healthcare. The role prioritises and manages its own workload with support from the Lead Clinical Educators.

The pioneering post will support both Student Nurses and Graduate Nurses as they transition through their training programme to become qualified Nurses. The TSM will also support delivery of student and graduate related training programmes, and act as a catalyst for change to continuously improve processes within the PDEU team and external teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the PDEU in facilitating and delivering induction and training programmes for Pre‑Registered and Registered staff.
  • Provide in‑situ clinical support to appropriate staff groups to assist in achieving competencies and developing confidence in their roles.
  • Provide pastoral support to learners and new starters to ensure wellbeing is supported.
  • Support and facilitate students and new starters within the non‑medical workforce in clinical and non‑clinical areas, identify learning and development opportunities to maintain and improve standards of patient care through enhancing placement experience, education and pastoral support.
  • Assist in delivery of training programmes focusing on support of students on placement and graduate transition into practice.
  • Work alongside student nurses and graduate nurses within the clinical environment to achieve competence and confidence.
