A local government authority is seeking a mentor to support young people in Salford who are at risk of being NEET. The role involves developing effective relationships with young people and families and driving engagement through innovative solutions. Candidates should have experience in mentoring or counseling and demonstrate strong communication skills. This position offers opportunities for meaningful impact within the community and a supportive working environment.

This role sits within the Skills and Work team, which provides strategic, operational and commissioning support to Salford young people and residents. Our vision is to provide clear pathways for residents to develop the skills and experience they need to progress into quality and sustainable careers. We do this by focusing on solutions to address barriers for residents participating in education, employment and training. This role is additional to one other existing Transition Mentor in the team.
Reporting into a Policy and Development Officer, you will play a key role in providing a professional and supportive role to Salford's young people by directly supporting a cohort of young people who are risk of NEET (not in Education, Employment or Training) or those who are already NEET, who need additional support via mentoring to engage in positive post 16 education, employment and training destinations.

Please be aware that this post is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and that you will be required to meet the cost of the DBS check currently £49.50. The payment for this will be deducted from your first four months’ salary payments at a rate of £12.38 per month. If you do not commence employment for any reason but the DBS has been processed, you will be sent an invoice for the payment of £49.50.
