Job summary

WMCA is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Portfolio Management Office and drive transformation across the organisation. You’ll lead projects through the full lifecycle, ensuring clear planning, governance and strong stakeholder engagement with senior leaders and partners.

The role requires managing competing priorities, identifying risks early and bringing teams together to maintain momentum.

Qualifications

Track record delivering projects from initiation to delivery in a structured environment.
Experience working in a PMO, programme or governance-led setting.
Ability to manage risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies and escalate where needed.
Experience leading cross-functional or matrix teams to shared outcomes.
Experience delivering transformation or change projects.

Responsibilities

Lead projects from initiation through implementation and transition to business as usual.
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, delivery schedules and resource plans.
Manage budgets, forecasts and expenditure with a focus on value for money.
Maintain RAID logs and actively manage risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
Lead governance and stage gate processes for projects.
Manage scope, change control and interdependencies across projects and programmes.
Build relationships with stakeholders at all levels and keep them informed.
Coordinate cross-functional project teams with clear roles and priorities.
