Job summary

British Transport Police (BTP) invites current or former Police Officers to apply for uniformed Police Constable roles in Bournemouth. This transfer/re-joiner path focuses on compassionate, community‑oriented policing with strong support through every step of the move, onboarding and progression.

The recruitment team remains in regular contact, outlines roles, locations, training and expectations, and ensures a smooth transition for transferees into a specialist national police force.

Qualifications

• Applicants must be a current or former officer from a Home Office Police Force, Police Scotland, or PSNI.
• Transferees must be substantive in rank and have completed probation.
• Re-joiners must apply within 5 years of leaving and have been substantive in rank.
• Must have lived in the UK for the past 3 consecutive years.
• No live misconduct warnings or performance issues.
• Cannot be under current investigation by another force.
• No active CCJs, unmanaged IVAs, or bankruptcy.
• We do not accept applications from those dismissed from another force.

Responsibilities

• Support and onboarding for transferees through the recruitment process.
• Provide guidance on roles, locations, training requirements and operational expectations.
• Assist transferees in transitioning smoothly into post and ongoing development.
