Director Tax Recruitment at Brewer Morris

Are you an ambitious and technically adept tax professional with a proven track record in transactional tax, particularly within the Owner Managed Business (OMB) sector? My client, a highly respected and rapidly growing accountancy firm with a significant presence in the London market, is seeking to appoint a Transactions Tax Director or Partner to bolster their thriving tax practice.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a firm renowned for its entrepreneurial spirit, collaborative culture, and deep expertise in advising OMBs through complex transactions. The firm prides itself on offering a dynamic environment where professional growth is actively encouraged, and direct client engagement is paramount.

The Role:

As a key member of the tax leadership team, you will be instrumental in delivering high-level transactional tax advice to a diverse portfolio of OMB clients. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Transactional Tax Advisory: Providing expert tax advice on a wide range of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), disposals, reorganisations, demergers, private equity investments, and exit planning for business owners.
  • Due Diligence: Leading tax due diligence assignments for both buy-side and sell-side transactions, identifying key tax risks and opportunities.
  • Client Relationship Management: Building and nurturing strong relationships with existing clients, understanding their commercial objectives, and identifying opportunities to provide value-added tax solutions.
  • Business Development: Actively participating in business development initiatives, identifying new client opportunities, preparing proposals, and contributing to the growth of the firm's transactions tax offering.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Managing, mentoring, and developing junior tax professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.
  • Technical Excellence: Staying abreast of changes in tax legislation and market trends, ensuring the firm's advice remains cutting-edge and compliant.
  • Cross-Service Line Collaboration: Working closely with corporate finance, audit, and other advisory teams to provide integrated solutions to clients.

The Ideal Candidate:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who possesses:

  • Qualifications: ACA/ACCA and/or CTA qualified with a strong academic background.
  • Experience: Extensive experience (typically 8+ years post-qualified) in transactional tax, gained within a reputable accountancy firm or legal practice. Significant exposure to the OMB market is essential.
  • Technical Prowess: Deep technical knowledge of UK corporate tax, capital gains tax, and stamp duty implications related to corporate transactions. Experience with international tax aspects of cross-border transactions would be advantageous.
  • Commercial Acumen: A strong understanding of commercial drivers behind transactions and the ability to translate complex tax legislation into practical, commercially sound advice.
  • Client-Facing Skills: Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence at all levels.
  • Leadership & Management: Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, delegate effectively, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Business Development: A demonstrable track record of contributing to business development activities and a genuine desire to grow a client portfolio.
  • Proactive & Solutions-Oriented: A proactive approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering innovative and effective solutions for clients.

What's on Offer:

This role presents a unique opportunity for a driven professional to take on a leadership position within a highly regarded firm. You will benefit from:

  • A highly competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience and seniority.
  • Significant opportunities for career progression, with a clear path to Partner for the right individual.
  • Exposure to a diverse and exciting client base, working on challenging and high-profile transactions.
  • A supportive and collaborative working environment that values work-life balance.
  • The chance to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the firm's transactions tax offering.

If you are a talented Transactions Tax professional looking for a challenging yet rewarding next step in your career, and you thrive in an environment focused on OMBs, I encourage you to get in touch.
