Job summary

Porter Dodson LLP is offering a Training Contract for 2027/2028 with a four-seat rotation across departments and a six-month seat cycle. The role provides legal and administrative support to solicitors, alongside a structured programme and study time for qualification as a solicitor.

Applicants should be prepared to undertake two questions per year of training and meet degree and A-Level requirements. Flexible location supports varied working arrangements with a strong focus on development.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in law or any other relevant subject; conversion courses acceptable.
• BBB at A-Level in any subject as minimum requirement.
• Strong written and verbal communication; good time management.
• Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
• Proficiency with IT tools and case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist solicitors with legal research, document drafting, and case preparation.
• Support fee earners with management of client files, filing, review, and correspondence.
• Attend client meetings and court hearings where appropriate and take notes.
• Prepare legal documents, contracts, and bundles under supervision.
• Manage diary, scheduling, and file maintenance.
• Comply with internal policies, data protection obligations, and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in internal training, knowledge sharing, and practice group activities.
• Participate in quarterly reviews and performance assessments mid/late each seat.
• Training records completed weekly and reviewed monthly with supervisor.
• Fulfil apprenticeship requirements including study time and exam prep.
• Rotate through different practice areas to gain broad experience.
