Job summary

SOCOTEC UK & Ireland is seeking a motivated Trainee Utility Surveyor to join our Monitoring & Surveying Division in the Midlands region. You will undergo a 12‑month training programme, gaining hands-on experience under mentorship from senior surveyors to launch a long‑term surveying career.

You will assist with GPR surveys, map production, site data collection, and safe field practices while building client relationships and developing essential CAD skills.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in surveying, construction, or civil engineering.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills in utility detection and mapping.
• Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• A full UK driving licence (travel across the Midlands area required).
• Positive, reliable, and proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with utility detection surveys using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and other surveying equipment.
• Supporting senior surveyors in producing accurate utility maps and CAD drawings.
• Helping to gather and record site data to industry standards.
• Working safely on-site, following health, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Developing strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Learning to interpret utility records and drawings to assist in survey delivery.

Trainee Utility Surveyor - Aylesford

Are you looking for a rewarding career in utility surveying, mapping, and underground detection? SOCOTEC UK has an exciting opportunity for a motivated Trainee Utility Surveyor to join our growing Monitoring & Surveying Division in Aylesbury (or surrounding areas). We offer an extensive training program designed to transform you into a skilled surveyor within just 12 months, giving you hands‑on experience, mentorship from Senior Surveyors, and the opportunity to develop a long‑term career in a growing and rewarding field.

As a Trainee Utility Surveyor, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients by helping to deliver accurate utility surveys, ensuring safe project planning, and contributing to the success of our business.
