Job summary

Randstad Education in East Grinstead is seeking a Trainee SEN Autism Tutor to support autistic students 1:1 and in small groups, following a personalised curriculum. The role involves assisting the teacher with planning and delivering activities across subjects.

This term-time only position runs Monday–Friday 08:45–16:45, with free onsite parking and meals, and opportunities to train toward autism tutoring. GCSEs in Maths and English are required.

Qualifications

• Must have GCSE Maths and English.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Experience in SEND is desirable but not essential.
• Term-time only, Monday-Friday 08:45–16:45.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher based on weekly/daily plans.
• Work 1:1 with Autistic students.
• Provide group or individual activities planned by the teacher.
• Support learners to develop work and maintain well-being.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress under teacher guidance.
• Support management strategies to create a purposeful learning environment.
• Support learners across all curriculum areas.

A team of caring, charismatic SEN workers are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Tutor to join their team. This school has some amazing facilities that you are able to use alongside the students to help them with their development! You will be working 121 with Autistic students and helping to implement a personalised curriculum.

This setting supports primary and secondary aged pupils with Autism and associated needs. The setting is based on acres of land and has incredible resources. This school is recognised for its calm, purposeful atmosphere where every pupil is supported to succeed. Clear routines and gentle guidance help pupils feel secure. Pupils trust the school, processes set in place and the staff who support them and as a result of this trust pupils grow in confidence and independence.

Applicants must be available Monday-Friday 08:45-4:45pm. This is a term time only role.

Your responsibilities will include

• Providing assistance to the teacher defined according to weekly/daily/seasonal planning
• Working 1:1 with students
• Providing group and/or individual activities, planned by the teacher
• Working individually with learners/students to develop work.
• Supporting the general well being of learners within the structure of the school
• Monitoring and evaluating students learning under the guidance of the teacher
• Assisting teachers in the use of relevant management strategies to ensure a purposeful environment for teaching and learning to take place
• Supporting all learners in their planned structured work in all curriculum areas

Key skills and experience needed

• The ability to work with learners that have various SEN needs
• A willingness to learn and build relationships with learners
• Confidence to support the lead in groups, in different educational subjects
• The ability to work as an individual and as a part of the teamFlexibility in their approach to education
• Experience working in SEND settings is desirable but not essential
