This is a \"Field based\" role - the successful applicant MUST hold a full UK driving licence and be prepared to travel across the region and be comfortable working in all‑weathers. Are you looking for an opportunity where you can develop your field based, hands on experience? Do you already have Electrical Installations knowledge or experience? Do you hold an Electrical Engineering (or similar) Diploma / Certificate, and looking to kick‑start a new career? Are you looking for an accredited and structured training programme to really test and develop your knowledge? When you join our Engineering Team at Telent, you\'ll be empowered to innovate and drive common solutions, working closely with technical experts who are proud of the impact their work makes. Come join a high‑performing team doing complex and critical work. Help build and keep the nation\'s critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

What you\'ll do

As a trainee within our Traffic Signals team, a typical day would see you working closely with one of our experienced Traffic Engineers to install, maintain and test a range of Traffic Signals / Traffic Lighting units and all Electrical components and equipment that complement, in and around the Carlisle region. Training will not just be in a classroom, it\'ll be a mixture of \'on the job\' learning, desk‑based and online learning, which will help you progress towards achieving an NVQ Level 2 in Highways Electrical Installations (led by LANTRA), then the NVQ Level 3, and finally, all Sector based certifications such as ECS and the National Highways Sector Scheme (NHSS) Chapter 8.

You will naturally have an intrigue and interest in field‑based Engineering, and ideally already have some exposure to anything Electrical Installations focused - whether that\'s working with electrical equipment, lighting, controllers, detection boxes etc, or you\'ve had some experience in a College course. If you don\'t have experience, and you are keen to start a new career, we encourage you to apply.

Qualifications
  • Motivation and willingness to learn through on the job and online learning
  • Previous experience of Electrical installations or a holder of an Electrical course / diploma or similar
  • Ability to problem solve and provide ideas - ultimately the job requires you to think outside the box, and working through \"fault finding\" instructions and specifications
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence
  • Good communications skills and have the ability to use a Tablet / computer literate
  • Able to and willing to undertake a Drugs & Alcohol test to ensure compliancy

A career at Telent can span sectors, roles, technologies and customers giving you the opportunity to develop, learn new skills and make an impact. We are growing and we rely on our committed Team to deliver.
