Survey Solutions is offering a Trainee Utility Surveyor position in Ipswich, with learning on site using innovative surveying technology and data processing in the office. You will be mentored by experienced surveyors and gain hands-on experience while you earn as you learn.

The role suits someone with an interest in outdoor activities, a minimum of GCSEs including Maths and English, and a drive to build a career in geomatics. Travel and some overnight stay may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Role Overview:

As a Trainee Surveyor, you will work on exciting surveying projects, learning to conduct surveys on site using innovative technology and how to process data in the office. The ideal candidate will have an interest in outdoor activities and passion for a career as a Utility Surveyor.

You will follow the company’s structured training program and undertake on-the-job training lead by experienced surveyors, giving you the unique opportunity to earn whilst you learn.

Responsibilities:

As a Trainee Utility Surveyor you will:

• Work on site with experienced surveyors, conducting surveys using innovative technology and processing data in the office
• Undertake on-the-job training and earn whilst you learn
• Set up surveying instruments, record data and providing logistical support to Surveyors
• Undertake tasks within the office environment to assist with project completion e.g. processing surveying data, instrument checks, organising and loading equipment, data input
• Maintain survey instruments to a high working standard and ensuring its fit for purpose
• Attend and contribute effectively to training and development days to assist your progression through the program
• Follow Survey Solutions health and safety policies and procedures and promote a high standard of health, safety and welfare in the workplace and to members of the public while onsite

The Person:

• A keen interest in outdoor activities or previous experience working outside
• A minimum of 5 GCSE's including Maths & English to Grade C level/ Grade 4
• Candidate must be over 18 years of age due to the regular overtime worked over 40 hours per week and employment law regulations
• Passionate about pursuing a career in Utility Surveying
• Good practical and problem-solving skills
• Logical thinker with an ability to deal with figures
• Ability to work successfully as part of a team
• Able to demonstrate and understand the importance of health and safety at work
• Willing to travel regularly with some overnight stays to complete projects
• Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
• Able to commute to our Ipswich office
• Right to work in the UK

About Survey Solutions:

Survey Solutions is a leading engineering surveyor specialising in land, measured building and underground utility surveys as well as monitoring and site engineering schemes. We have a network of ten offices with our teams of surveyors and engineers working on some of the UK’s major construction and infrastructure developments.

This is a full-time role with office hours of Monday to Friday from 9.00 – 5.30, however site hours will vary so overtime and occasional weekend working will be required.
