Job summary

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Trainee Sterile Services Technician (Band 2) to support decontamination, inspection, packing and sterilisation of medical devices across the Trust. You will learn to operate washer disinfectors and sterilizers, maintain records, and follow infection control policies.

Training will be provided with opportunities to progress within the department. Fixed shifts with weekend and bank holiday rota.

Qualifications

• GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English & Maths.
• Desirable: Previous experience in Sterile Services or NHS.
• Essential: Ability to follow procedures and meet deadlines.
• Essential: Commitment to complete required training for the role.
• Desirable: NVQ training.

Responsibilities

• Support decontamination and reprocessing of surgical instruments, endoscopes, mattresses and reusable devices.
• Inspect, assemble, pack, sterilise and track equipment.
• Operate washer disinfectors and sterilizers; maintain equipment records.
• Follow policies including HTM, ISO 13485, and infection prevention standards.
• Contribute to audits and continuous improvement within the department.
