United Living in the UK is seeking a Trainee Site Engineer to join their dynamic team. This role includes working within Overhead Line and EHV Underground cables teams, predominantly site-based across Scotland.
You will learn site engineering aspects such as overseeing site management and liaising with clients. The position offers competitive salary, flexible working arrangements, and a commitment to professional development.
United Infrastructure is a UK-based infrastructure services company delivering critical energy, power, water, telecoms and social infrastructure projects. Following the acquisition of Wood’s UK Transmission & Distribution business, United Infrastructure has strengthened its capabilities in power engineering, construction and asset optimisation, supporting grid resilience and the transition to a low-carbon energy system. The company partners with public and private clients to deliver safe, sustainable and future-ready infrastructure across the UK.

You will preferably have an awareness of the development and delivery of multi-million-pound projects to deliver safely, on-time and within budget. Experience of working in a construction environment or working with NGED, SSEN, SPEN and similar cabling transmission and distribution network operators is an advantage but not necessary.
Reporting to the OHL Construction Manager, you will learn all aspects of site engineering, how to oversee the site management team coordination of foremen, linesmen, and sub‑contractors while liaising with clients and third parties, and manage the setting People to Work process, including onboarding and site inductions with our program to support a growing workload across overhead lines (OHL) & EHV UG Cabling. You will be contributing to the increased network capacity required to deliver the UK government’s pathway to 2030 and the transition to net zero.
