Job summary

Farmfoods is seeking a Trainee Shop Manager in Wolverhampton to lead a shop team and deliver excellent customer service. The 18-month training programme combines hands-on management duties with mentoring from an Area Manager and progression toward a Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship with Inspiro.

The role includes a starting salary of £32,648 with potential growth to £35,306 after six months, plus extensive benefits and a 15% staff discount.

Responsibilities

• Be fully accountable for your shop and responsible for ensuring that customers are looked after and shop routines are completed to maintain a safe, clean and tidy shop.
• Motivate and guide your team to be as successful and efficient as possible.
• Lead by example and get stuck in with the day to day tasks involved in running one of our busy shops.
• Control key costs including payroll, shrinkage and waste.
• Meet standards in relation to customer service, cash handling, health & safety, stock management, merchandising and presentation.
• Take responsibility for recruitment, training and development of your team.

Job description

Trainee Shop Manager

Hours: 45 hours across 5 days per week. Pay: £32,648–£35,306 per annum. Location: Wolverhampton. Benefits: 6 weeks holiday, 15% staff discount, staff benefits package, and more.

Training

The programme is 18 months long and includes:

• Initial training period working alongside an experienced shop manager and developing practical skills in retail management.
• Period of running your shop with high support from your Area Manager.
• Approximately 3–6 months into training you will take on full responsibility for your own shop (subject to performance review) while continuing to develop your management skills.
• Working towards a Level 4 Retail Manager apprenticeship qualification with Inspiro, our approved training provider.
• Support with upskilling your Maths and English (if required).
• Completion of an independent end point assessment at the end of the training.
