Job summary

Ernest Gordon Recruitment Limited is recruiting for a Trainee Service Engineer in Leicester. This hands-on position offers full one-to-one training and progression to a fully qualified Security Systems Engineer.

You will work with experienced engineers on installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV, access control, gates and alarms across commercial and residential sites, gaining practical skills and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Hands-on candidate with an interest in engineering or electrical work.
• No prior security industry experience required; full training provided.
• Must have full UK driving licence.
• Able to commute to Leicester.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV, access control, gates, barriers, door entry systems and alarms.
• Support with cable runs, equipment preparation and loading/unloading on-site.
• Travel to commercial and residential sites to learn how security systems are installed and maintained.
• Receive on-the-job training and progress toward becoming a qualified engineer; Mon–Fri 8:30–17:30.

Are you an aspiring Engineer looking for a varied and hands‑on role where you will receive full one‑to‑one training and support to develop into a fully qualified Security Systems Engineer?

On offer is the opportunity to join a growing security systems company where you will receive full one‑to‑one training and ongoing support from experienced engineers, giving you the skills and knowledge to progress into a fully autonomous Security Systems Engineer.

In this role you will work closely alongside experienced engineers, receiving hands‑on training and support while assisting with the installation, servicing and maintenance of a range of security systems. You will gain practical experience across commercial and residential sites, develop your technical skills and have the opportunity to progress into a fully qualified Engineer.

This role would suit someone hands‑on looking to build a career in engineering with full training and support provided.

The Role

• Work alongside experienced engineers to assist with the installation, servicing and maintenance of CCTV, access control, gates, barriers, door entry systems and alarms
• Support with cable runs, preparing equipment, loading and unloading tools and materials, and general hands‑on work on customer sites
• Travel to a variety of commercial and residential sites, gaining practical experience and learning how different security systems are installed and maintained
• Receive full on‑the‑job training and ongoing support, with the opportunity to develop your technical skills and progress into a fully qualified Engineer. Mon - Fri : 8:30-5:30

The Person

• Practical and hands‑on, with an interest in engineering, electrical work, security systems or learning a skilled trade
• No previous security industry experience required - full training is provided, so a positive attitude and willingness to learn are more important
• Full UK driving licence
• Commutable to Leicester
