Job summary

HLK is seeking graduates with a science or engineering degree to become Patent Attorneys, starting in September 2027. Candidates with 1:1 or 2:1 degrees in physics, computer science, or electrical engineering are encouraged to apply.

The role involves drafting patent applications, advising clients on procedures, and supporting international protection strategies, with mentorship from partners and access to HLK Academy training.

Qualifications

• 1:1 or 2:1 degree related to physics, computer science or electrical engineering.
• Background or expertise in electronic circuitry, semiconductor devices, software/AI, quantum computing, mobile telecoms and physics.
• Strong interest in science and technology with the ability to apply it to client needs.
• Ability to make confident judgments based on information provided and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patent applications for clients and distill inventions into clear, broad descriptions.
• Advise clients on patent procedures, international protection and patent strategies.
• Work with a global client base across electronics, engineering, chemical and biotechnology sectors.
