Trainee Logistics Operative - Heli-Freight (Job ID: 1906)

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday on a shift rotation of 0500-1400 week 1 and 0900-1800 week 2

ASCO has a long-established freight forwarding operation, ASCO Freight Management, located within a specialist Heli-freight facility near Aberdeen Airport. We have served most of the oil and gas operators based in the area, many of whom remain long term customers. Our facility and procedures are best in class, regulated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) and certified to Authorised Economic Operator (AEOF) status. ASCO Freight Management is one of very few companies to offer a full in-house service of traditional freight forwarding along with customs compliance and Heli-freight processing.

Responsibilities
  • Receipt, screening and manifesting of freight in accordance with procedures.
  • Confirming materials delivered correspond with paperwork, investigating discrepancies.
  • Ensuring requests for materials are received and properly actioned in accordance with procedures and that the materials system is updated accordingly.
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards within the warehouse and operating areas, including checks of the AFM fleet of vehicles and forklifts.
  • Inputting, retrieval and reporting of data using computerised systems, ensuring accuracy and presentation style.
  • Liaising with customers and heliport representatives regarding materials movement.
  • Ensuring aviation security requirements are met at all times.
  • Ensuring the safe use of forklifts and lifting equipment.
  • Loading/unloading of vehicles in line with operating instructions and HSE standards.
  • Booking UK deliveries with sub-contractors, and related finance administration.
  • Undertaking freight / cargo handling in line with operating instructions and HSE standards.
  • Driving duties, including collection and delivery of mail and small parcels.
  • Presenting a positive image of the company through first class service delivery and customer engagement.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with customers, colleagues and vendors to support all aspects of the AFM warehouse operations, ensuring all work is carried out in a safe, efficient and effective manner.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Valid Driving Licence

  • Customer focused. Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and in writing.
  • Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure.
  • Solutions based, motivated to achieve the highest standards of performance and customer support, maintaining a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Ability to work stand-alone, demonstrating ownership and initiative, while a positive contributor to the wider team.
  • Computer literate across the Microsoft Suite.
Desirable Qualifications/Competencies
  • Dangerous Goods by Air
  • NXCT – National X-Ray Competency Test for Cargo Screeners
  • Aviation Security Cargo Operator Screening (COS)
