Job description
Trainee High Intensity Therapist – Leicester – University of Lincoln

Join Vita Health Group as a Trainee High Intensity Therapist in our Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR) Talking Therapies service. You will undertake the one‑year, full‑time PGDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy at the University of Lincoln, starting 2 March 2026 (induction) and 4 March 2026 (University).

Responsibilities

  • Provide High Intensity CBT interventions recommended by NICE to clients with moderate to severe common mental health disorders.
  • Deliver 3 days of clinical practice with the service and 2 days of instruction at the University each week; attend one late shift (12:00 pm‑8:00 pm) each week, where required.
  • Receive weekly supervision from both the university and the workplace.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and progress notes.
  • Participate in quality supervision, CPD and specialist training opportunities.
  • Contribute to service development and to the broader team.

Qualifications & Core Requirements

  • Recognised professional qualification in a mental‑health profession (e.g. Clinical or Counselling Psychological Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, Psychotherapist, Counsellor, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, PWP).
  • Two years post‑qualification experience (or equivalent core profession if not yet accredited).
  • KSA portfolio to demonstrate core competence with the BABCP.
  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent) relevant to mental health.
  • BABCP membership from course commencement.
  • Experience in mental‑health services, including risk management and primary‑care/talking‑therapies services.
  • Evidence of foundation level or sustained CPD in CBT and supervised CBT practice.
  • Willingness to travel and to undertake overnight stays when required.
  • Availability to commence induction on 2 March 2026; first university day 4 March 2026.
  • Full DBS check and right to work in the UK without restriction.
  • UK residency status eligible for Home Fee status.
