Job summary

PTSG Group is looking for a trainee engineer to learn and carry out inspections, maintenance and installation of height safety systems across the UK. The role involves working safely to British Standards and developing technical knowledge through recognised training.

You will join Nationwide Specialist Services and NSS teams, supporting various divisions while gaining hands-on experience and earning a full UK driving licence. A flexible schedule and willingness to travel are required.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexibly, including nights and weekends, and travel as required.
  • Must hold a full UK driving licence.
  • Comfortable working at height or willing to undergo training.
  • Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Reliable, hardworking and keen to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to travel and stay away when required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to inspect, maintain, test and install height safety systems.
  • Assist with inspections, servicing and maintenance across the UK.
  • Identify defects and recommend remedial works.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with British Standards.
  • Complete job reports and documentation accurately.
  • Support other NSS divisions when required.
  • Develop technical knowledge through industry-recognised training.

Job description

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will learn how to inspect, maintain, test and install a wide range of height safety systems, including:

  • Fall arrest and life safety lines
  • Eyebolts for fall restraint and abseiling
  • Gantries and walkways
  • Guardrails
  • Fixed and portable ladders
  • Roof access systems
  • General lifting equipment
You will also:
  • Assist with inspections, servicing and maintenance work across the UK
  • Learn how to identify defects and recommend remedial works
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with British Standards
  • Complete job reports and documentation accurately
  • Support other NSS divisions when required
  • Develop your technical knowledge through industry-recognised training
