Job summary

ASFD Ltd, the design and engineering arm of McMullen Facades, invites a Trainee Façade Designer to join our UK team. You will develop skills to become a key member of a design group responsible for prestigious façade and cladding installations.

You will produce high-quality 2D drawings and 3D designs, compile information packs for manufacture and installation, and support colleagues with technical guidance while progressing within the team.

Qualifications

• Higher level apprenticeship or above in technical studies.
• Proficient in 2D CAD software and 3D software.
• Ability to read technical drawings and understand regulations.
• Experience with MS 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Teamwork under pressure and ability to meet deadlines.
• Customer-focused and excellent communicator.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop skills to become a key member of a Design Team for Façade and Cladding installations.
• Produce high-quality drawings or 3D designs per project specifications.
• Create detailed factory and site information packs using 3D software.
• Assist other design members with technical support as required.
• Prepare Bills of Materials and Material Schedules for procurement.
• Attend and participate in internal training workshops.

We are looking for a Trainee Façade Designer. Role seniority will be based on the candidate’s experience.

Your Role

• Develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become a key member of a Design Team responsible for several prestigious Façade and Cladding Installations.
• Produce high quality detailed drawings or 3D designs in line with Project Specifications ensuring all relevant standards and regulations are followed.
• Produce detailed factory and site information packs using 3D manufacturing software for use during Manufacture and Installation.
• Assist other design members regarding technical support/guidance as required.
• Compile Bills of Materials and Material Schedules for use during Procurement.
• Attend and gain knowledge from internal training workshops.

Your Skills

• Higher level apprenticeship or above in technical studies
• Experience in using 2D CAD software
• Knowledge of using 3D software
• Understanding of manufacturing and construction techniques (experience during study accepted).
• Ability to confidently read and understand Technical Drawings.
• Awareness of Building Regulations and Quality Standards.
• Experience in using Microsoft 365, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Experience of working as part of a team, with ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Quality driven with a passion for excellence and high attention to detail.
• Ambitious individual with a desire to learn and progress within the team.
• Excellent communicator with a customer-oriented attitude.
• Fluent in English.

Location

You will be based in 66 Lurgan Road, Moira, Co Armagh BT67 0LX and work in close collaboration with the Switzerland, England & UAE offices.

The office is located just outside the village of Moira in Co. Down and borders with Co. Armagh. Moira is served by the Moira railway junction situated on the Newry to Bangor line and is off Junction 11 on the M1 Motorway. The village is located 20 miles from the Belfast International Airport.
