Emco Talent are looking for a Trainee Electrical Designer to join a leading engineering organisation, offering the chance to develop hands‑on experience in electrical design for large‑scale industrial projects.

This position is ideal for someone early in their career who’s keen to build skills in the design of electrical installations within the offshore, petrochemical, or energy sectors. You’ll be supported by experienced engineers while learning to produce key design documentation and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and producing electrical design documents using PDMS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Support the creation of layouts and drawings, including cable routing, lighting layouts, single line diagrams, and earthing drawings.
• Learn to model electrical and instrumentation equipment in PDMS/E3D.
• Work closely with Electrical Engineers to identify and select electrical equipment.
• Assist in integrating EC&I design with other disciplines such as process and structural.
• Support review and validation of vendor documentation.

Requirements

• Minimum HNC qualification in Electrical Engineering (HND/Degree desirable).
• Interest in designing electrical installations for the offshore or petrochemical industries.
• Desire to learn design tools such as PDMS and AutoCAD.
• Good attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
