Job summary

Olleco is hiring a Trainee Driver to join our Newton Abbot depot team. The role starts with accompanying the driver on daily rounds, delivering fresh cooking oil and collecting waste oil, with working hours starting early between 05:00 and 07:00.

You will interact with many customers and gain hands-on route experience. Compensation starts at up to £32,997.12 yearly, rising to £40,170 after training completion, with pension, medical plan, life assurance and generous holiday entitlements.

Qualifications

• Hardworking candidate with the desire to progress and learn.
• A valid car driving licence is required.
• GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above.

Responsibilities

• Accompany the driver on daily rounds, delivering cooking oil to restaurants and collecting waste oil.
• Interact with up to 30 customers daily, providing helpful service.
• Progress to own smaller rounds in a 3.5 tonne van and learn route management.
• Complete training to obtain a Class 2 Licence.
• Work independently, handling cash and managing workload.

Job Description

• To start with accompanying the driver on daily rounds throughout our region, delivering fresh cooking oil to restaurants and collecting waste cooking oil to be loaded back onto the lorry
• Interacting with up to 30 customers a day, providing an effective and helpful service
• Once experienced doing own smaller rounds in 3.5 van to learn own round management
• Completion of your Class 2 License
• Ability to work independently, completing cash handling and manage own workload
• Aiding the driver to locate any new locations that require delivery
• Filling out round sheets and invoices with quantities and prices
• Unloading used cooking oil from the vehicles back in the yard
• Loading vehicles with fresh stock ready for the next day
• Working as part of a team to ensure the site runs efficiently and effectively

Qualifications

• Hardworking people with the desire to progress and gain knowledge
• A car driving licence
• At a minimum, GCSEs in English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent)

Please note, this role involves early hours, starting between 05:00 and 07:00 am. As the role can involve moving and carrying weights in excess of 20kgs, we will provide manual handling training and medical screening to the successful candidate.
