Job description

Abernethy Butter is a multi-award-winning small artisan speciality butter maker temporarily based at Bluestone Business Park in Craigavon. We are now looking for a trainee Buttermaker to join our team. The successful applicant will receive full training. This role is currently based in Craigavon; however, the business will relocate to new premises in Moira in early 2026 as part of a strategic investment and expansion program. After training, you will be responsible for producing our award-winning butter. This process involves loading fresh cream into the butter churns and operating the butter churn machinery. You will help the team with all general aspects of production and cleaning, maintaining a clean, hygienic, and safe working environment and work with shaping butter, wrapping and labelling products, packaging.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Have previous experience in catering, food handling or a food production environment.
  • An understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
  • The ability to follow both written (English) and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Good timekeeping skills to support efficient workflow for the rest of the team.
  • Ability to handle the demands of the job, including lifting and manual tasks.
  • Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices.
