Job summary

Arriva Thurmaston is hiring a Trainee Bus Driver to start your career at the heart of the community. You will train at the Arriva Training School, gain your PCV licence, and then work with a mentor to apply your new skills on real routes.

The role offers generous hourly pay from the start, with overtime and progression opportunities into management or specialist driving. You will serve customers, ensure safety, and contribute to reliable transport for Leicester area.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months.
• No more than 6 points on your licence.
• Can pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Great people and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete paid training to obtain a PCV licence at Arriva Training School.
• Work with a mentor to apply skills on real routes.
• Provide safe, reliable journeys for customers and pupils.

Trainee Bus Driver

£13.45 - £38.81 per hour

Pay Rate: £13.45 - £38.81 per hour

• During Training (the first 4-6 weeks) - £13.45 per hour

During Mentor Training

• Monday to Friday - £15.53 per hour
• Saturday - £16.43 per hour
• Sunday - £17.33 per hour
• Bank Holiday - £17.33 Per hour
• Monday to Sunday (After 6pm) - £0.68 Per hour supplemental Increase

After Mentoring

• Monday to Friday - £17.25 per hour
• Saturday - £18.25 per hour
• Sunday - £19.25 per hour
• Bank Holiday - £38.81 Per hour
• Monday to Sunday (After 6pm) - £0.75 Per hour supplemental increase

Pay rates reviewed via frequent pay negotiations.

Hours of Work:

• 5 out of 7 rotating shift patterns, planned up to 6-8 weeks in advance so you can plan around shifts.
• The rota currently has 1 in 3 weekends off with approximately. With 1 in 6 being a long weekend, consisting of Thursday, Friday Saturday and Sunday.
• Mornings starting from 04:00 with Evenings finishing by 01:30 on a rotational basis.
• We cannot offer fixed early, afternoon or evenings separately.
• Overtime available at request / availability.

Requirements:

• Must be over 18 years of age
• Have been driving for a minimum of 6 months
