Job Title: Trainee ASC Support Worker
Location: Newcastle
Salary: £85–£100 per day
Contract: Full-time, Long-Term

We’re looking for a Trainee ASC Support Worker to join a specialist education setting in Newcastle, supporting young people who have Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. You don’t need experience to start this role—just the right attitude, empathy, and willingness to learn. You’ll receive on-the-job guidance from experienced staff, alongside free training and CPD from Protocol Education, so you can build skills and confidence while you work.

This isn’t just about classroom support—it’s about building trust, understanding, and giving every child the chance to thrive in their own way. Many of the pupils you’ll support have faced challenges beyond the classroom, and your role will be to help them feel safe, supported, and ready to engage with learning.

What you’ll be doing
  • Providing personalised, one-to-one or small group support for children with ASC

  • Creating calm, consistent environments where pupils feel safe and understood

  • Helping pupils develop social communication skills, confidence, and independence

  • Working alongside specialist teachers, therapists, and families to shape individual learning journeys

  • Celebrating the small wins—because with the right support, small steps lead to big changes

We’re looking for someone who brings aspiration, kindness, integrity, and resilience into everything they do. Someone who believes that every child deserves the chance to succeed, no matter their starting point. You’ll be the kind of person who listens first, speaks kindly, and understands that real progress doesn’t always look the same for every child. Experience isn’t essential—it’s your ability to build trust, stay calm under pressure, and commit to helping children grow in confidence that really matters.

Why start your career with Protocol Education?

From the moment you register, you’ll have a dedicated consultant who gets to know you, listens to your goals, and finds opportunities that help you grow. It’s the perfect starting point if you’re thinking about a future in education, special needs support, psychology, or youth work.

  • Weekly pay through PAYE

  • Free access to CPD, including autism-specific training and Thrive

  • On-the-job support from experienced school staff and your dedicated Protocol consultant

  • Opportunities for long-term progression into SEN, education, or care careers
