Job description

Full time, permanent – Training Band 6 to Band 7 level. We’re looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Paediatric Audiologist who would like to train to specialise in paediatrics and join our friendly audiology team. The training role includes both practical training and completion of a Masters level education in this specialist area. This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that provides care for adults and children and offers the chance to practice other aspects of audiology alongside its paediatric focus.

Responsibilities
  • Train and develop expertise in paediatric assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Option to develop other clinical interests, such as tinnitus and vestibular service.
  • Line management responsibilities and lead on innovative projects within the team.
  • Develop specialist knowledge and experience through Masters‑level education and CPD.
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner within scope of practice: evaluate requests, carry out paediatric assessment and rehabilitation across patient pathways, meeting departmental and national standards.
  • Produce high‑quality independent reports ensuring compliance with departmental and national standards.
  • Interpret complex audiologic or evoked‑response audiometry test results and, where appropriate, recommend patient management to professionals.
  • Provide teaching and training within scope of practice.
  • Support Service leads in day‑to‑day organisation of the Audiology service per Trust protocols.
  • Support Advanced Audiologist/Clinical Scientists with the Audiology Vertical Monitoring and Horizontal Audit (VMHA) programme.
  • Support Audiology quality lead in maintaining UKAS accreditation.
Qualifications & Experience
  • BAAT I and II or BSc in Audiology qualification.
  • Significant NHS experience.
  • Registration with HCPC or RCCP.
  • Motivation to train for paediatric specialisation and pursue Masters‑level education.
Training & Development
  • The role includes both practical paediatric audiology and Masters‑level education in this specialist area.
  • Opportunity to develop leadership skills through further training and professional development.
  • This is not an STP (Scientist Training Programme) training post.
  • Support for applications for STP equivalence via the Academy of Healthcare Science.
Interview Process

The interview process consists of two stages. Successful candidates from the first stage will be invited to a second‑stage interview.
