Job description
A Vacancy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.

A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with managerial and clinical responsibility for the delivery of Advanced Clinical Practice in Interventional Radiology (IR). Able to make informed decisions within their own speciality and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met.

Responsibilities
  • Managerial and clinical responsibility for delivery of Advanced Clinical Practice in Interventional Radiology.
  • Make informed decisions within speciality and scope of practice, involving patients and public.
  • Autonomously assess patients undergoing IR procedures (history, assessment, treatment, evaluation).
  • Demonstrate safe senior clinical decision‑making and expert care, supporting clinical management plans and prescribing medication.
  • Oversee IR’s pre‑assessment and ward assessment services.
  • Provide immunisation and vaccination report.
  • Use critical thinking in clinical decision‑making, autonomously assessing elective IR patients.
  • Collaborate with the Radiology team to meet patient needs, ensuring service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures.
  • Guide junior medical and nursing staff regarding protocols and procedures.
  • Lead specialist service, providing specialist advice, education, training and development to the IR nursing team and other professionals.
  • Work in partnership with multidisciplinary teams to develop, implement and evaluate a seamless specialist service, ensuring highest standard of clinical care.
  • Ensure evidence‑based care and participate in audit, research and service improvement.
Qualifications
  • Experienced healthcare professional with Masters-level qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • Completed MSc in Advanced Practice including the non‑medical prescribing module.
  • Individual competence and capability must meet the standard for band 8a progression.
  • Ability to work autonomously and at senior clinical level.
  • Demonstrated skills in patient assessment, treatment, prescription and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Capability to guide and support junior staff and develop training programmes.

Post holder will work within all areas where Interventional Radiology patients may be housed, including wards, the Day Surgery Unit and Radiology, providing support and guidance to nursing and medical staff in the management of IR patients.
