Job summary

The Sofa Delivery Company in the United Kingdom is seeking a Trainee Driver to begin a driver career with our in-house Driving School.

During the first 12 weeks you’ll drive a 3.5-ton van as we prepare you to upgrade to a 7.5-ton licence. Training costs and medicals are covered, with time off for tests. After training you’ll progress to a 7.5T Driver with a pay raise and a 4-on, 4-off 7am–7pm schedule.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence with 6 points or fewer.
• At least 2 years of driving experience, with no drink/drug driving convictions.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Deliver furniture safely and professionally to customers’ homes.
• Keep customers informed with pre-delivery updates and expected arrival times.
• Ensure delivery to the room of choice and leave no rubbish behind.
• Work with your team and managers to improve service standards.
• Represent company values in all interactions.

Ready to kickstart your driving career? Join us as a Trainee Driver at The Sofa Delivery Company, where you'll embark on our in-house Driving School programme! During your first 12 weeks, you’ll drive a 3.5-ton van as we prepare you to upgrade to your 7.5-ton driving licence. Don’t worry if you’re new to driving a 7.5-ton vehicle - we’ll guide you through the entire process. From covering the costs of your training and medical assessments to offering time off for your Theory & Hazard tests and Driver Training, we’ve got you covered.

Once you’ve completed your training and passed the necessary tests, you'll be promoted to a 7.5T Driver role, with a pay increase to match! It’s a win-win, and we’ll have you delivering with confidence in no time! With our 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, 7am - 7pm, you’ll have plenty of time to relax, recharge, and enjoy life outside of work.

What you'll be doing

• Delivering furniture safely and professionally to customers’ homes.
• Keeping customers in the loop with pre-delivery communication, so they know exactly when to expect you.
• Ensuring that furniture is delivered to the room of choice and leaving no rubbish behind.
• Working alongside your team and senior managers to provide feedback and improve service standards.
• Represent The Sofa Delivery Company values and those of our brand partners in everything that you do.
• Comply with all driving laws as defined by the government and all company policies and procedures.
