Freightliner is the UK's largest maritime intermodal logistics operator, transporting containers from all major deep-sea ports to our national network of inland terminals, as well as a leading operator in the UK Heavy Haul rail freight market. Freightliner has operations across Europe offering both Intermodal and Heavy Haul rail freight services seamlessly connecting European countries and the UK.

In the UK the Freightliner Group operates under a number of legal entities including Freightliner Group Ltd, Freightliner Heavy Haul Ltd, Freightliner Ltd, Pentalver Transport Ltd, and Pentalver Cannock Ltd.

A vacancy has arisen within Freightliner Heavy Haul for a Train Planner, ideally to be based in Ferrybridge, however we are open to a more hybrid way of working so happy to discuss alternative options which could see a combination of working at Ferrybridge and other locations.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out planning workloads efficiently and effectively to comply with network code and industry processes
  • Work within the wider planning team to ensure weekly train plan is implemented in a timely and efficient manner
  • Liaise with industry contacts as necessary
  • Production of train plans that maximise profitability for Freightliner Heavy Haul whilst meeting customer requirements
Requirements
  • A good knowledge of freight train operations with a sound knowledge of railway geography
  • Excellent Planning skills
  • ability to produce diagrams for operational staff which are compliant with all internal and industry criteria
  • Good computer skills, including the ability to use Voyagerplan (train planning software), TOPS/TRUST and general office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)

This role will involve some travel and may require staying away from home on occasion.
