Job summary

Cambridgeshire Constabulary invites applications for a Traffic Management Officer to join the BCH alliance and support road safety across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire & Hertfordshire. The role involves expert traffic management advice, data analysis, and collaboration with local authorities and partners to reduce road danger.

You will influence decisions, contribute to road safety initiatives, and engage with Safety Advisory Groups, developers and event planners to improve outcomes for all road

Qualifications

• Knowledge of traffic management, road safety or highways or related discipline.
• Qualifications in traffic management, road safety or highway engineering, or the ability to acquire them.
• Strong partnership-working and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to research and prepare reports, business cases or consultation responses.
• Sound IT skills and ability to work with data collection and analysis systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the force subject matter expert on traffic management and road safety matters.
• Respond to consultations from National Highways, local authorities, planning bodies and the public.
• Provide advice and support to Safety Advisory Groups (SAGs) and major event planning teams.
• Deploy, collect and analyse traffic data recording equipment to assess traffic speed, volume and vehicle weight information.
• Support interventions designed to reduce fatal and serious injury collisions.
• Participate in Road Safety Audits (Stages 2, 3 and 4).
• Conduct site visits following fatal road traffic collisions and liaise with highway authorities and Forensic Collision Investigation Units.
• Review major housing development proposals and provide specialist traffic management advice through planning consultations.
