Job summary

VolkerWessels UK’s VolkerHighways is seeking a Foreman to lead traffic management operations from the Wokingham depot. You will ensure safety, compliance with NHSS standards, supervise operatives, and deliver high-quality TM layouts and documentation.

You will hold a CSCS card, NHSS 12D M1-M6, NHSS 12A/B Foreman qualifications and a full UK driving licence, with duties including site surveys, client liaison and weekend rotas. Join a growing highway maintenance team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in traffic management operations.
• Experience in highways maintenance.
• Holder of valid CSCS card and NHSS 12D M1-M6.
• Holder of NHSS 12A/B Foreman and full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Deliver traffic management operations in line with NHSS 12 and Chapter 8 (12A/B & 12D).
• Supervise, support and mentor operatives and trainees.
• Ensure all works are carried out safely, efficiently, and to required standards.
• Conduct site surveys and review/approve TM layouts where required.
• Maintain and check TM equipment, reporting defects promptly.
• Complete all job records, permits, and required documentation accurately.
• Participate in call-out and weekend rotas, including emergency response.
• Liaise professionally with clients, stakeholders, and local authorities.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and permitting regulations.
• Deliver team briefings, inductions and ensure staff understand roles and risks.
• Build strong client relationships and support high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Report near misses, monitor performance, and identify team training needs.
