Job description

Reporting into the Regional Manager, the Traffic Maintenance Supervisor will take on the responsibility for leading the field teams delivering our maintenance contracts. This role require travel in the Newcastle and surrounding areas on a daily basis.

What You'll Do
  • Lead a small team of Trainee Traffic Maintenance Engineers.
  • Manage controller builds and liaise with the engineering team on configurations.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining Imtrac spare parts/repairs, including financial targets and aiding contract managers in rolling out to big yellow locations.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining test rigs.
  • Technical lead in the depot, coordinating new technologies before they go to street.
  • Support Contract Managers in assessing Engineers progressing to Senior Engineer and Senior Engineers to Support Engineer.
  • Provide support to the Contract Managers to ensure that the contracts are delivering on time and within budget.
  • Work alone and with colleagues to the highest standards to maintain signals equipment.
  • Reduce the overall fault rates within our traffic signals maintenance contracts.
  • Ensure engineers have correct stock on vans to complete first-time fix.
  • Liaise with maintenance engineers and Contract Manager to keep repeat fault rates to a minimum.

Our Field teams are critical in the delivery of our contracts, whether that involves delivering or supervising maintenance, installation, cabling or civils works. Help build and keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7. You will have previous experience in an Electrical Supervisor role, ideally gained within the Traffic / Highways / Telecoms / Utilities industry, along with excellent team leadership and people management skills.

Key Requirements
  • Electrical Engineering experience is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge around traffic signal equipment specifications is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to act under pressure and provide good customer satisfaction.
  • Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Highways Electrical, City & Guilds diploma (or HNC/HND) in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or BS 7671 / 18th Edition are highly desirable.
  • NRSWA Certification.
  • ECS Card.
  • Full driving licence.
  • IT skills - Proficient in Excel, Word, RMS systems.
