Job summary

A leading environmental services company is seeking a Waste Management Operative in Brighton. You will manage vehicle access, support the leadership team, and perform various housekeeping tasks. Qualifications

  • A good understanding of IT for document and spreadsheet management is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Safely control access of vehicles into Tipping Hall areas.
  • Issue driving instructions for vehicles on site.
  • Support the leadership and operational teams.
  • Perform housekeeping and light maintenance.
  • Provide cover during operational breaks.
  • Conduct daily inspections and report problems.
  • Complete site fire watch daily.

Location: Brighton Material Recovery Facility, BN1 7BB

Hours: Average 37.33pw - Working to a seasonal rota/shift system which includes evenings, bank holidays & weekend working

Winter (1st October - 31st March)

AM x 4, Rest Day x 2, PM x 4, Rest Day x 2 Shift Pattern

06:15-14:45 / PM 09:30-18:00

Summer (1st April - 30th September)

AM x 4, Rest Day x 2, PM x 4, Rest Day x 2 Shift Pattern

06:15-14:45 / PM 13:30-22:00

What will you be doing?
  • Safely controlling Veolia, third-party waste collection authority and commercial vehicles access into and out of both Tipping Hall areas on Site
  • Issue instructions to drivers of vehicles entering and leaving site/tipping halls
  • Provide support to the leadership team, Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) team and Waste Transfer Station (WTS) team
  • Housekeeping and light maintenance (cleaning, litter picking, painting, etc.) of the Tipping Halls and external areas of the site
  • Provide cover during breaks to assist the site operations, particularly in Traffic Control, Weighbridge and Mobile Plant roles (subject to training provided)
  • Completing daily site inspections and reporting defects/issues as required
  • Completing the daily site fire watch before the site closes each day.
What are we looking for?
  • Previous experience within a similar operational role / busy manual handling type of experience
  • Good IT skills (word processing, spreadsheets)
Desirable:
  • Experience operating Mobile Plant (loading shovels, excavators, forklifts)
  • Weighbridge experience
