To work as part of a managed team. Work to be of both complex and non-complex nature, responsible for minor repairs and routine planned preventative maintenance activities, as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures, and taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment.

Main duties of the job

Work as a team and also independently on mechanical systems where appropriate to do so, for routine fault finding, testing, replacing, isolation, modifying, inspecting, improving, installing, maintaining, and repairing of most mechanical systems with the exception of medical gas pipeline systems, gas boilers, steam boilers, and steam and condensate systems.

Work with other team members in carrying out routine fault finding, testing, replacing, isolation, modifying, inspecting, improving, installing, maintaining, and repairing and other Tradespersons who are undertaking mechanical/electrical installations

Undertake minor non-complex installations as directed by Team leader/Estate officer/ and Senior Estate manager.

Actively participate the operation of the Trusts labour control scheme by working within the scheme including completion of all paperwork required of the scheme. (Including completion of all job dockets and timesheets).

Qualifications
  • GCSE in maths and English (A-C/4-9) or functional skills level 2
  • City and Guilds NVQ level 2 in plumbing or mechanical discipline
  • Completion of recognised and registered CITB or EITB apprenticeship
  • Competent persons water systems
  • Working at height training
  • Confined spaces course
  • First aid at work training certificate
  • Safe release of trapped passengers
  • BTEC, ONC in Engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience.
Experience
  • First aid knowledge especially electric shock treatment
  • Health and Safety Training
  • Knowledge of carrying out planned preventative maintenance on electrical / mechanical systems.
  • Experience on heating and domestic hot and cold-water systems.
  • Work activities relating to legionella for example tmv maintenance and water temperatures.
  • Experience using ppm systems and permit to works.
Knowledge
  • Experience working on a range of systems i.e., Heating, Ventilation, Hot and Cold-Water systems.
  • Computer literate and keyboard skills.
  • Demonstrate experience working within the industry.
  • Ability to work on own initiative without close supervision.
