The Trade Surveillance Lead is responsible for Trade Surveillance activities globally. The role holder will work closely with RC and NFR stakeholders to ensure that the Market Abuse Risk Assessment (MARA) methodology is being adhered to in accordance with the standards set out by the oversight team, on both an annualised and trigger event perspective. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail ensuring feedback from surveillance alert disposition teams to the regional technical officers (or other conduits) are appropriately captured and actioned by the central surveillance capability teams.

In this role you will:
  • Review global coverage requirements from a Market Abuse Risk Assessment perspective to ensure consistency of approach and outcomes
  • Work closely with both the regional surveillance heads and the surveillance product teams to ensure that all trade surveillance requirements are captured.
  • Collaborate with regional surveillance heads to ensure consistent global standards, effective alert disposition, and timely escalation of this.
  • Assist in the evolution of surveillance technology by partnering with Product, IT, and data management reams to enhance systems and analytics.
  • Maintains and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators.
  • Take a proactive and structured approach during governance forums.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Thorough experience in Surveillance with a strong understanding of both trae and e‑comms surveillance.
  • Strong ability to analyse and assess complex issues and implement practical solutions.
  • A proactive and detail‑oriented mindset, ensuring that surveillance processes and controls remain robust and effective.
  • Clear understanding of Market Conduct and Abuse.

This role is based in London on a hybrid working basis.
