Job summary

Network Rail seeks a Track Maintenance Operative to help keep the railway safe and reliable for millions of passengers daily. Based at Basingstoke, you’ll join a hands-on team delivering essential track maintenance, inspections and repairs across the network.

No rail experience is required—training is provided. You’ll work days, nights and weekends, travel to sites, and operate outdoors in all weather, always prioritising safety and following procedures.

Full UK driving licence.
Shifts include days, nights, and weekends.
Outdoor work in all weather conditions.
Safety-critical role: drug/alcohol testing, medical checks, hearing and eyesight tests.
Must live within 60 minutes of your depot.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain track through inspections and repairs to keep the network safe.
Travel to sites across locations as maintenance needs arise.
Work outdoors in all weather, day or night.
Prioritise safety and follow all procedures.
Support fault finding, inspections, and emergency repairs as required.
