Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an experienced TP141 Commissioning Engineer to lead pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities for a major UK energy infrastructure project. Initial work will be remote, moving to full‑time on‑site commissioning from Q2 2027 through June 2028, across Peterhead and Drax (Wren Hall).

You will plan, prepare and coordinate commissioning activities from early development through client handover, coordinating with contractors and site teams while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• TP141A National Grid Authorisation is required.
• Experience commissioning on large-scale energy, HVDC or infrastructure projects.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex commissioning phases.

• Testing execution — Perform and oversee all commissioning and testing activities in line with National Grid procedures.

TP141 Commissioning Engineer - Outside IR35

We are supporting a major UK energy infrastructure programme and seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to lead all pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities across two key UK sites. This role is confidential due to the strategic nature of the project.

You will plan, prepare and coordinate commissioning activities from early project development through to final client handover. Initial work will be remote, moving to full‑time on‑site commissioning from Q2 2027 through June 2028.

• Commissioning planning — Develop commissioning plans, schedules and documentation.
• Testing execution — Perform and oversee all commissioning and testing activities in line with National Grid procedures.
• Team coordination — Lead contractors, site teams and stakeholders across both project locations.

Must‑Have

Work Structure

• Now - Q2 2027: Remote/home‑office (~2.5 hrs/week)
• Q2 2027 - June 2028: Full‑time on‑site commissioning

Travel: Occasional travel between sites, increasing toward project completion
