A community-focused environmental organization in Brecon seeks volunteers to contribute to maintaining the canals and rivers. As part of the team, you will engage in activities like vegetation management, planting, and litter picking, offering a chance to gain experience and meet new people. This role is perfect for anyone enthusiastic about working together to care for the environment.
Join us and work as part of a team to look after your local canal or river, in this area the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.
The Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal (Welsh: Camlas Sir Fynwy a Brycheiniog) is in South Wales. For most of its currently (2025) navigable 35-mile (56 km) length it runs through the Brecon Beacons National Park, and its present rural character and tranquillity belies its original purpose as an industrial corridor for coal and iron, which were brought to the canal by a network of tramways and/or railroads, many of which were built and owned by the canal company.
Within the Towpath Team you could be planting, painting, doing vegetation management, litter picking or any number of things.
It\'s a great chance to meet new people and learn about how we look after the canals & rivers.
Join our team for the next stage in your volunteer journey.
