Job summary

Countryside Classroom is seeking a dedicated Ranger to help maintain Harpenden’s green spaces and town assets. The role involves regular inspection of assets, completing reports and scheduling required works, plus multi-trade maintenance from grass cutting to park furniture repairs.

You will support events, liaise with officers and contractors, and prioritise urgent requests. The role offers a full-time 37-hour week, a pension, training to develop skills, and a collaborative team environment in

Responsibilities

• Ensure assets are regularly inspected with reports and records of required works.
• Undertake general maintenance duties across the Town, grass cutting, sports pitch upkeep, and repairs to street furniture.
• Support and liaise with Officers regarding appointed contractors and issues.
• Support key events.
• Prioritise reactive work requests from colleagues.
• Ensure team vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
• Support users of green spaces ensuring regulations and safety are maintained.
• Complete risk assessments and keep them updated.
• Work with stakeholders to maintain high standards of upkeep.
• Attend meetings as required.

Job description

Full time 37hrs per week. SCP 13 - 17. £30,023 - £32,046.

As an important member of our team, you will:

• Ensure assets are regularly inspected with corresponding reports and records completed, including required works.
• Undertake any general maintenance duties, covering multi-trades, around the Town to ensure the upkeep of the Town and its assets. This ranges from grass cutting and sports pitch maintenance through to repairs to street furniture.
• Support and liaise with Officers in respect of appointed contractors and issues around the Town.
• Support key events.
• Deal with, and prioritise, reactive work requests from colleagues.
• Ensuring team vehicles are maintained to a high standard.
• Support and liaise with users of our green spaces ensuring regulations and byelaws are enforced and public safety is maintained.
• Complete risk assessments, ensuring they are regularly reviewed and updated.
• Work in partnership with key stakeholders to deliver high standards of upkeep.
• Undertake such other duties and responsibilities, including attending meetings, commensurate with the grade and designation of the post as required.
