Job summary

Overview

Town Planner – South London – £42.14 per hour (Umbrella)

A London Local Authority is seeking an experienced Town Planner (Principal Planner level) to join their Planning team on an interim basis. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the borough’s growth and development, working on a variety of complex and high-profile planning projects.

Responsibilities
  • Assessing and managing major planning applications.
  • Providing professional input on major enforcement cases.
  • Supporting all aspects of development management and spatial planning.
  • Contributing to planning policy development, including the Local Development Framework and supplementary planning guidance.
  • Leading or supporting appeals, enforcement, area-based planning strategies, and planning briefs.
  • Engaging with the public and stakeholders to encourage participation in planning processes, including co-design and regeneration initiatives.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Town Planner or Principal Planner within a local authority.
  • Strong understanding of planning legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience in handling major applications and enforcement matters.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • MRTPI qualification (or working towards) desirable.
